This 4-page section of the letter sets forth the U.S.'s attitude toward and dealings with the Indians during dnd after the Revolutionary War. Jefferson outlines the-position he wants the com- missioners to take. The entire letter of which this is a part can be found in the American State Papers, Vol. I, pp.265-267.
