Clearing the path
The construction of the North-South Expressway, now known as Interstate 65, caused some initial excitement as a "highway of the future." But the cost of such a highway included the demolition of many homes and businesses in and around downtown Louisville. This gallery features some photographs taken by Ivey Watkins Cousins to capture the images of the many structures and homes being demolished for this project.
