to be urged on the Legislature, at its next meeting, was stated: School suffrage, a law raising the age of consent, the establishing a State Reformatory for women and girls, and the employment of female physicians in insane asylums; also bringing the woman suffrage question before the different political conventions.

Also a letter from Mr. A. G. Munn stating that while in earnest sympathy with the objects of the Association, he would be compelled to decline the office of President, as his time was fully occupied. was taken and she was unanimously elected Corresponding Secretary for the year.
The offices of President and Recording Secretary now being vacant Mr. A. G. Munn was chosen unanimously as President, and the Cor. Sec. requested to inform him, with an urgent appeal that he accept.
The vote for recording Secretary resulted in the election of Mrs. M. F. Hibberd to fill that office. It was moved that Dr. Heywood and wife be made honorary members of the E.R.A. in appreciation of his many efforts in our behalf, and his earnest advocacy of equal rights. This was carried by a rising vote.
A motion was made and carried that Dr Jones be made an honorary member for this year, in recognition of his courtesy and interest at the time of Miss. Anthony's lecture, and on various occasions.
Mrs. Leech then devoted a few minutes to a drill in the proper manner of putting and seconding motions, and making amendments. It was moved and carried that we give a portion of the time of our meetings to parliamentary drill, as the need of such knowledge is felt by all.
March 1895
The members of the E.R.A. were invited by Mrs. Leech to meet Miss. Laura Clay, who was passing through the City on her return from a visit to several points in the State, made in the interest of the State E.R.A.
Miss. Clay gave an interesting and enthusiastic account of the feeling aroused at these points. She also gave an outline of work to be pursued this year. The local associations were requested to distribute literature at their own expense -the Louisville organization taking Jefferson County -the literature to be obtained of the Woman's Journal, Boston Mass.

Minutes of Meeting Nov. 19th 1894
The President called the meeting to order and reported the result of her interview with Mr. J. M. Chatterson as being very satisfactory, and the attitude of the other members of the Board as probably favorable. It was thought advisable to see some of the prominent teachers, and Miss. Beeler and Miss. Leib were selected for this work. The President and Mrs. Bergmann were also to see the President of the School Board and others, to get their opinions in regard to school suffrage.
The change in the constitution regarding state fees, voted upon at the last meeting, was ratified by a full vote of those present.
Miss. Leib was requested to see if the lecture room of the Unitarian Church could be procured for a lecture by Miss Susan B. Anthony in January.
Meeting then adjourned.
Minutes of Meeting Dec. 10th 1894
The meeting was called to order by the President and a report given of visits by herself and Mrs. Bergmann to the Pres. of the School Board, and five Trustees, all of whom seemed quite favorable and encouraging in regard to the school suffrage work. Miss. Beeler and Miss. Leib also reported having visited quite a number of teachers, and found them cordially in favor of the movement.
Miss. Leib reported that we could have the Unitarian Sunday School room for Miss. Anthony's lecture. On motion it was accepted with cordial thanks.
A motion was made that we engage Miss. Anthony, which was carried. The meeting then adjourned.

Minutes November 10th 1894
A meeting of the Louisville Equal Rights Association was called for Nov. 10th 1894, there having been no meeting since April 1893. Mrs. C. A. Leech presiding, gave an interesting account of the annual meeting of the State Association which she attended on October 17th18thand 19th. The general work for the year, as outlined by theState Asso. being in the interest of school suffrage for women. The second class cities of the state have the suffrage secured to them and it is important that in Louisville, the only first class city in the state, we make an earnest effort to obtain the same right. A motion was made by Mrs. Hayden and seconded by Miss. Beeler, that we make school suffrage our work for the year. The motion was carried.
After discussing methods of work it was decided that the President should advise with Mr. J. M. Chatterson, a prominent member of the School Board known to favor school suffrage for women and report at the next meeting.
The dues from local associations to the state organization having been changed by the Convention from .25 cts to .35 cts., Miss. Beeler moved that the additional 10 cts. per member be sent to the State treasurer, and the corresponding change made in our Constitution. Carried. The change in membership fees from $1.00 to .50 cts was discussed, and decided in favor of the reduction, at least for this year as an experiment. Miss. Beeler moved that our next meeting be a week from the following Monday, Nov. 19th, at 3 o'clock. Carried.
The meeting then adjourned.

Hall and also to invite Judge L. H. Noble to present the law as it is, in regard to women's property, and that Mrs. Henry be invited to speak in behalf of equal property rights. It was further decided to send invitations to all of our representatives in Frankfort to be present at the meeting, and that it be advertised for Jan 30thin all the city papers.
The meeting then adjourned.
Minutes of Meeting February 5th 1892
This regular monthly meeting was held at the usual time and place, Mrs. Leech in the Chair. Much of the time of the meeting was devoted to arranging a petition, with the appended signatures, to be sent to our representatives at Frankfort. The petition asked the consideration by the Louisville members of both branches of the Legislature, of such a bill as would give the women of Kentucky control of their own income, ability to make a will, and equal rights with fathers in the custody of their children.
The meeting of Jan 30th at Baldwin's Hall was well attended, and much interest aroused in quarters where the subject of equal rights had not before met with much consideration. Mrs. Henry's appeal was in her usual earnest style, and Judge Noble's clear and impartial exposition of the present laws was listened to with profound attention. The Treasurer's report showed that after all the expenses incurred for this meeting had been paid, there still remained in the Treasury $14.80.
A resolution was adopted

we must follow them up closely with others, and with this in view the Secretary was instructed to write to Miss. Clay and ascertain when the Committee appointed to visit the Legislature would be in Frankfort, as it was thought a meeting just before that time would assist their work. The Sec. was given discretionary power to call the members together to hear Miss. Clay's reply, and to makearrangements for such a meeting.A vote of thanks was tendered Mrs. Johnson for her untiring efforts in raising means and making arrangements which alone made it possible to have the Convention meet here. Thanks were also tendered Mrs. Hibberd for the use of her house for the reception. Resolutions were adopted expressing the thanks of the Association for the eloquent addresses of the Revs. C. J. K. Jones, and J. H. Heywood, at the closing meeting of the Convention. A motion was then made to change the number constituting a quorum from 5 to 3, to facilitate the transacting of business. The motion was seconded and carried.
The meeting adjourned.

This meeting was called by the Secretary, as authorized, Mrs. Leech presiding. A letter from Miss Clay was read which advised having the proposed meeting as soon as possible, and also that Mrs. Henry be invited to advocate the cause of Equal Rights on the occasion. Miss. Minutes of Meeting January 8th 1892
The regular monthly meeting for January was held at the home of the Secretary, Mrs. Leech presiding. The Secretary read letters from the Treasurer, absent on account of illness, and from Mrs. Eugenia B. Farmer, Corresponding Secretary of the State Association. Mrs. Farmer appealed to the Louisville Association to make every effort to assist in the school suffrage work, and advised that each member write a personal letter on the subject, to each one of our seven representatives. Mrs. Johnson reported $140 as collected by her for the Convention expenses, and disbursements for that purpose, leaving in the Treasury, from surplus and membership fees, the sum of $17.13.
The President then called on members for an expression of opinion in regard to the impression made by the Convention meetings, and also the Social reception. The opinion was unanimous that the effect had been greatly to benefit the cause by bringing it to the notice in the papers -the Courier-Journal especially having given very satisfactory reports of the meetings -which would not only be of local benefit, but extend an influence all over the South. The opinion was also general that the social reception had been a good move in the direction of bringing the Equal Rights question before many who would otherwise give no thought to the subject.
After deliberations it was decided that to benefit by any advantage gained through these late efforts

Minutes of Meeting March 6th 1891

A letter from the Treasurer expressed her regret at being unable to attend the meeting, and contained her report, which showed a small balance in the treasure. But a combination of unpropitious events had prevented. Sickness, bad weather, and conflict as to time of meeting, with other meetings which required the presence of some of our members. Articles of interest in regard to the work were then read by Mrs. Avery and Miss. Beeler, after which the meeting adjourned.

No Quorum present.
Minutes of Meeting February 6th 1891
