City-County Merger and Mayor of Louisville Metro
After completing three terms as mayor in 1998, Abramson returned to the practice of law at Frost, Brown, Todd. He also worked extensively at Louisville's major turn of the century project merging the City of Louisville and Jefferson County Governments into the combined entity now known as Louisville Metro. Abramson's tact, deep relationships, and extensive policty experience helped bring the merger to fruition. Upon completion of the merger Abramson ran for first mayor of Louisville Metro and was elected with 73 percent of the vote. He held the office for two terms, from 2002-2010.
