The Enid Yandell Photograph Collection features many snapshots and candid photos of Enid as her life as a “bachelor maid,” a single woman in the late nineteenth and early twentieth who was independent from men. This gallery captures the spirit and personality of Enid as a person.
Enid had a fondess for dogs, as evident by this photo. Dogs would also appear in many of her works. Hogan's Fountain in Louisville's Cherokee Park features small reservoirs in the shape of dogs that fill with water at the base of the fountain.
While Enid was living in Paris, she met her closest companion, Geysa de Braunecker, a Hungarian expat singer and musician who performed in Paris. Enid roomed with Geysa in Paris from 1895-1903. Here Enid and Geysa pose with a bike in the French countryside. This image is very fitting as Enid was an avid cyclist.
